Vital Shyshlou was detained after a protest on September 23, 2020 in Minsk, which took place after the secret inauguration of Lukashenka. He was then shown on state TV channels with his hands tied in the woods.
Shyshlou was accused of violence against police officers (Article 364 of the Criminal Code), for spraying pepper gas at a police car, as well as under Part 2 of Art. 293 (participation in riots) and Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (group actions grossly violating public order).
The detainee was eventually sentenced to 6 years in a medium-security penal colony.
