Yauhen Hlushkou was charged with 'high treason' (Part 1 of Article 356) and 'facilitating extremist activity' (Part 1 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code) for sending photos of the Belarusian military airfield used to carry out the attack on Ukraine to a Telegram channel.
Hlushkou is 32 years old. He is from the Homieĺ region. He was detained in August 2022 and taken into custody in remand prison #3 in Homieĺ.
On January 20, 2023, the Homieĺ Regional Court, behind closed doors, found Yauhen Hlushkou guilty of 'providing assistance to a foreign state, a foreign organization, and their representatives in carrying out activities aimed at harming the national security of Belarus' under Part 1 of Art. 356, and of 'other facilitation of extremist activities' under Part 1 of Art. 361-4 of the Criminal Code.
The final sentence is nine years of imprisonment in an enhanced security penal colony. The trial lasted from January 3,2023. The case was heard by the judge Aleh Kharoshka.
