Dzianis Sakalou was convicted under Article 289 of the Criminal Code on charges of an act of terrorism - involvement in the attack on a Russian military aircraft at the Mačuliščy airbase.

The main defendant in the case and the perpetrator of the sabotage, Mikalai Shvets, was released in June in an exchange with Ukraine. However, the case is still on trial and his accomplices in Belarus are facing long prison sentences. Shvets himself is being tried in absentia.

The case is being considered in closed session by Valiantsina Ziankevich. The trial began on August 19, 2024 in the Minsk City Court.
