On May 25, 2023, Aliaksandr Lahuta was convicted by Judge Aliaksandr Yarmolik at the Court of Slonim and Slonim District. Lahuta was found guilty of violating Part 2 of article 367 of the Criminal Code (slander against Lukashenka) and sentenced to two years and six months of restricted freedom in an open penal facility ("khimiya") .
From December 9, 2022 to March 22, 2023, Lahuta was in custody. Aliaksandr was released on bail before the trial.
On August 18, 2023, he was included in the list of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons involved in extremist activities.
Aliaksandr was sent to open correctional facility No. 36 in September 2023.
