Daniil Zayats was accused of 'organizing and preparing actions grossly breaching public order' (Part 1 of Art. 342 of the Criminal Code), 'insulting a government official' (Art. 369), and 'violence or a threat of violence against an internal bodies officer' (Art. 364).

The trial, which began on January 20, was presided over by Judge Ruslan Huryn.

Daniil Zayats worked at the Hrodna branch of the Beltelecom government-owned telecommunications company. In early October 2022, he was detained for several comments on social networks and placed in custody pending trial.

On January 23, 2023, the Lieninski District Court of Hrodna sentenced Zayats to 24 months of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony.
