Aliaksandr Tsialeha is a neurologist from Barysaŭ. The doctor works in Norilsk, Russia, and came home in April on vacation.
He was detained on May 3, 2021, for insulting law enforcement officials. Tsialeha faced criminal charges under Article 369 of the Criminal Code (Insulting a government official). The detainee was remanded in pre-trial detention center of Hrodna prison No. 1.
Finally, Aliaksandr's actions were qualified under three articles of the Criminal Code: article 364 (Violence or threat of violence against an employee of the internal affairs bodies), article 369 (Insulting a government official), article 391 (Insulting a judge). During the trial, it became known that Aliaksandr left 32 comments on the officials, including the commanding officer of OMON Dzmitryi Balaba, assistant prosecutor of Frunzienski district of Minsk Alina Kasyanchyk, judge of the Frunzienski district court of Minsk Maryia Yarokhina, deputy prosecutor general Aliaksei Stuk. Aliaksandr explained at the trial that he volunteered at Akrescina temporary detention center in Minsk during the August protests, so he was overwhelmed with emotions and commented so much. At the trial, it became known that one of the victims in the case had beaten Telega during his detention.
On January 21, 2022, judge Hanna Leusik found Tsialeha guilty and sentenced him to four years in a general-security penal colony.
On April 3, 2024, a trial was held in Ivacevičy to replace Aliaksandr's security level, following which the political prisoner may be transferred to prison. The trial was presided over by judge Siarhei Kukhatskavalets.
Since April 9, 2024, he has been held in high security prison No. 4.
