Viachaslau Kandyba was arrested for leaking information about representatives of law enforcement agencies to a Telegram channel.
This was qualified as an offense under Part 6 of Art. 16 and Part 3 of Art. 130 (assistance in intentional actions aimed at inciting other social hostility and enmity on the grounds of another social affiliation, committed by a group of persons).
On March 15, 2022, the Minsk city court passed a verdict. Viachaslau Kandyba was found guilty of intentional actions aimed at inciting other social hostility and enmity on the grounds of another social affiliation committed by a group of persons and sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. He was also found guilty of illegal collection and dissemination of information about private life, which caused harm to the rights, freedoms, and legitimate interests of the affected person under Part 1 of Article 179 of the Criminal Code (as amended by Law of the Republic of Belarus of 05.01.2015 № 241-3) and sentenced to 3 months in detention.
As a result, Judge Alena Ananich sentenced him to 7 years of imprisonment in a medium-regime penal colony with deprivation of the special rank of lieutenant colonel of justice in the reserve (in accordance with Article 60 of the Criminal Code).
