Valeryia Bayarovich was arrested together with her husband, journalist Dzmitryi Bayarovich, on March 14, 2023. Criminal proceedings were started against them under Article 342 of the Criminal Code ('Active participation in group actions grossly disrupting public order'). She was placed in remand prison #8 in Žodzina, Minsk region.

In July 2023, it became known that the political prisoner was in remand prison #1 in Minsk.

Her trial began on July 19, 2023. On July 20, 2023, in the Lieninski District Court of Minsk, Judge Yuliya Inchyna sentenced Valeryia Bayarovich to 3 years of freedom restriction under home confinement. She was released from custody in the courtroom.
