Statement on the status of a political prisoner
Uladzislau Kupryianau worked as an engineer at the Mahilioŭ City Electric Networks. He was arrested in early August 2022.
Kupryianau was accused of disclosing the residential addresses of government officials and law enforcement officers to the Black Book of Belarus Telegram channel in the fall of 2020.
He was charged under Part 3 of Article 352 (Illegal possession of computer information), Part 3 of Article 203-1 (Illegal actions regarding privacy information and personal data), and Part 3 of Article 130 (Inciting racial, national, religious or other social hatred or enmity) of the Criminal Code.
The political prisoner was transferred from remand prison #1 in Minsk to remand prison #3 in Homieĺ.
On February 24, 2023, the Homieĺ Regional Court started his trial. On April 13, Judge Mikalai Dolia found the political prisoner guilty of "inciting racial, national, religious or other social hatred or enmity committed by a group of persons" under Part 3 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to five years of imprisonment in a medium-security penal colony.
