Siarhei Sakavets was arrested on September 21, 2021. He was initially sentenced to 10 days of administrative imprisonment but was never released, facing criminal charges under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (organization or active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order).
On May 20, 2022, the trial against Siarhei started at Maskoŭski District Court of Minsk. On May 24, 2022, JudgeTatsiana Pirozhnikava sentenced him to four years in a general-security penal colony. The political prisoner pleaded not guilty at the trial and said he had been beaten during his detention.
