Maksim Bas was detained in Minsk for publishing comments on the Internet in connection with the deaths of IT worker Andrei Zeltser and KGB agent Dzmitry Fedasiuk.
On October 24, 2022, Judge Iryna Maiko of the Minsk Regional Court heard the case of the political prisoner. She found Bas guilty of ‘insulting a government official’ (Article 369 of the CC) and ‘inciting hatred’ (Article 130 of the CC) and sentenced him to three and a half years of imprisonment and a fine of 3,200 Belarusian rubles ($1,260).
