Yauhen Yarmak was detained on June 16, 2022, and convicted under an administrative case. He was then taken into custody under the criminal case of group actions grossly violating public order (Article 342 of the Criminal Code). His wife Anzhalika Yarmak was detained along with Yauhen. 

A criminal case was initiated against the couple for ‘group actions that grossly violate the public order’ (Article 342 of the CC) and ‘insulting the president’ (Article 368 of the CC). However, the latter charge was dropped due to the statute of limitations.

On October 24, 2022, Judge Siarhei Katser of the Maskoŭski District Court of Minsk found both Yauhen Yarmak and Anzhalika guilty and sentenced them to two and a half years of restricted freedom under home confinement each.
