Ihar Sarokin lived in Poland and worked as an electrician before his arrest. On February 28, 2024, upon his return to Belarus, he was detained at the border in connection with his participation in the post-election protests. He was charged under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order).

Ihar has a minor child.

On August 5, 2024, Judge Dzmitry Shuryn sentenced Sarokin to 1 year and 6 months in a penal colony.
