Ihar Salavei was detained in connection with the riots in Pinsk on August 9, 2020. Salavei was later charged under Art. 293 of the Criminal Code.
On April 30, 2021, Judge Yauhen Brehan of the Maskoŭski District Court of Brest sentenced the defendant to 6 years in a medium-security penal colony.
On January 26, 2022, a court hearing was held in Babrujsk penal colony No. 2, where Ihar was serving his sentence. The court ruled to change Pinsk political prisoner's prison regime to a strict one for 2 years, allegedly for the systematic violation of discipline.
