Art. 130 of the Criminal Code — Incitement to hatred
Art. 367 of the Criminal Code — Slander against the President of the Republic of Belarus

Sentence: 6 years

Penalty: imprisonment in a medium-security penal colony

Mikhail Miakeka lived and worked in Poland. At the end of November 2022, Mikhail was detained when he returned to Belarus.

He was charged with a number of protest articles:

  • Incitement to hatred (Part 1 and Part 3 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code),
  • Organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them (Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code),
  • Violence or threat against an official performing official duties (Part 2 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code),
  • Slander against Aliaksandr Lukashenka (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code).

On August 9, 2023, Judge Viktar Sianko sentenced Mikhail Miakeka to six years in a medium-security penal colony.
