Andrei Tsaliuk was previously detained under an administrative article for participating in protests. It was reported that he had posted over 2,000 extremist messages, at least 100 of which contained signs of law violations.

He was convicted under several articles of the Criminal Code, including Part 1 of Article 130, Article 188, Part 3 of Article 203-1, Part 2 of Article 367, Part 1 of Article 368, Article 369, and Article 370. The trial took place at the Minsk Regional Court from February 8 to June 26, 2023. It was held in a closed format and presided over by Judge Anzhalika Danilava.

      On September 29, 2023, he was added to the list of individuals involved in extremist activities.
