Volha Skrashchuk was charged with ‘contempting a government official’ and ‘inciting social hatred’ and taken into custody under Articles 369 and Article 130 of the Criminal Code for her comments after the murder of the KGB officer Dzmitryi Fedasiuk and the IT specialist Andrei Zeltser.
On October 16, 2021, she was transferred to remand prison #1 in Minsk.
On November 9, 2022, the Minsk City Court tried her case behind closed doors. Judge Alena Ananich found Volha Skrashchuk guilty and sentenced her to two years of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
On December 16, 2022, she was transferred to remand prison #3 in Homieĺ.
Volha Skrashchuk served her full term and was released in late January 2023.
