Volha Kavaliova was detained on March 17, 2022, for her comments on the internet. A criminal case for ‘threatening a police officer with violence’, ‘insulting a judge’, and ‘insulting a government official’ was instituted against her under Articles 364, 391, and 369 of the Criminal Code respectively.
According to the indictment, Kavaliova left insulting comments and made threats against 50 officials, including judges, prosecutors, internal affairs officers, state security officers, investigators, and members of precinct election commissions.
At the end of September 2022, she was sentenced to three years in a general-security penal colony.
