Viachaslau Arestau is a corporate customer service specialist at a bank. He was detained in May 2022 as part of a criminal case for ‘group actions that grossly violate the public order’ (Article 342 of the Criminal Code) for his participation in protests in August 2020.

The trial took place in September 2022. Arestau pleaded guilty in court. He admitted that he shouted slogans in public and blocked the traffic by stepping onto the roadway with other protesters.

On September 23, 2022, Judge Aliaksandr Volk of Savietski District Court sentenced the political prisoner to three years of restricted freedom under home confinement. Arestau was released in the courtroom.
