Statement on the status of a political prisoner
Viktar Savashevich was accused of creating and managing the 23.34 Telegram channel, which posted information about the Belarusian judges. Besides, as reported by the Telegram channel of the Prosecutor General's Office, Savashevich was accused of "aiding and abetting the deliberate actions of administrators and members of a number of other destructive Telegram channels, which were aimed at inciting social enmity based on different social affiliation and which entailed serious consequences".
Viktar Savashevich was detained on September 8, 2021.
On January 19, 2023, in a closed session, the Minsk City Court convicted Savashevich under Part 1 of Art. 130 ('Incitement to other social enmity'), and Part 6 of Art. 16 and Part 3 of Art. 130 ('Complicity in inciting other social enmity') of the Criminal Code. Judge Siarhei Khrypach sentenced Savashevich to 11 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.
