Veranika Zharkina was convicted under Part 1 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code (incitement of racial, national, religious or other social enmity or discord) and Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code (insulting Lukashenka). The case was considered by Judge Siarhei Salouski in closed session on April 11, 2024. Veranika was sentenced to imprisonment.
On July 5, 2024, she was added to the list of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons involved in extremist activities.
