Vasil Verameichyk is a former soldier of the Kalinouski Regiment who was extradited to Belarus by the Vietnamese authorities.
It was reported that he was ultimately located in Asia, as the government of Lithuania had identified him as a potential security risk and prohibited his entry into the European Union. On the evening of November 14, he was transported to Belarus in a convoy comprising three individuals. According to Motolko.Help, the detainee was transported to Belarus on a Belavia flight (B2978) from Moscow on the evening of November 14. The plane landed at Minsk National Airport at 23:48.
A criminal case was initiated against him for "participation in riots and an attempt to set fire to the car of prosecutor's office employees," in accordance with Part 1 of Article 366 (violence or threat against an official performing official duties) of the Criminal Code.
The individual was a member of the Coordination Council. In response, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Office issued a strongly worded protest.
"This action is a direct consequence of the repressive policies pursued by the Lukashenka regime as it continues to target opponents, including those who fight for freedom and democracy, as well as those who are defending Europe from Russian aggression", the statetement said.
