Vadzim Nikalayeu was in custody since August 7, 2021. He was charged under Article 130 of the Criminal Code ('Incitement to enmity or hatred'). His trial began on December 14, 2021.
According to the indictment, Nikalayeu sent four messages to the Pinsk 97% Telegram chat, which, according to the investigation, incited hostility.
On March 22, 2022, in the Brest Regional Court, Judge Andrei Leshchankar found Vadzim Nikalayeu guilty and sentenced him to 24 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
In late April 2022, Nikalayeu was transferred from remand prison #7 in Brest to penal colony #1 in Navapolack, Viciebsk region.
In April 2023, the political prisoner was released after serving his sentence in full.
