Vadzim Hovin has specialized secondary education and works as a welder. He was accused of posting a disrespectful comment about Lukashenka on a social network, in which he accused Lukashenka of committing a crime against humanity and an act of terrorism. Vadzim Hovin was remanded in custody pending trial. He fully admitted his guilt and repented of what he had done.
On June 1, 2023, the Biaroza District Court (Brest region) convicted Vadzim Hovin under Part 2 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code ('Contempt of the president of Belarus'). Judge Natallia Minchanka sentenced him to 18 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
