Uladzislau Karetski is a volunteer at Viktar Babaryka's election campaign headquarters. He was detained as a defendant in a criminal case on the riots and charged under Part 1 of Article 13 and Part 2 of Article 293 ('Preparation for riots'), and Part 3 of Article 293 ('Other preparation of persons for participation in mass riots') of the Criminal Code.
Karetski worked for Persian Lessons—a 2020 German-Russian-Belarusian war drama nominated for the 2021 Oscar. His name is listed in the credits.
Before the trial, Karetski was in remand prison #1 in Minsk.
On June 10, 2021, the Maskoŭski District Court of Minsk announced the verdict against the volunteers of Viktar Babaryka's election campaign headquarters. Judge Sviatlana Bandarenka sentenced Karetski to five years of imprisonment in a medium-security penal colony.
It is known that Karetski is often placed in a punishment cell in penal colony #1 in Navapolack (Viciebsk region).
On March 6, 2023, the court of Navapolack held a trial to tighten the punishment regime for Karetski. Judge Volha Balika resolved to transfer the political prisoner to a prison regime.
Soon the political prisoner was placed in Prison #4 in Mahilioŭ.
