Uladzimir Shurubeika was sentenced on May 20, 2021 to two years of restricted freedom in an open penitentiary (“khimiya”) by the Maskoŭski District Court of Brest under Art. 369 of the Criminal Code for insulting a KGB officer.

According to the prosecution, on September 22, 2020, Shurubeika, in an open Viber chat, "with the aim of harming the authority of state power and government," posted a message regarding the state security officer Dzianis Siamionau, containing a negative assessment of his personality, namely calling him "a pussy, schmuck and whiner."

On January 5, 2022, Uladzimir Shurubeika was released to serve the remainder of the sentence under "home confinement".
