Uladzimir Melnik was detained on December 8, 2021 in the framework of a criminal case on group actions that grossly violate public order (Article 342 of the Criminal Code).

He was transferred to a pre-trial detention center.

On May 17, 2022, Melnik was found guilty and sentenced to two years of restricted freedom in an open-type correctional facility.

Since August 1, 2022, the political prisoner has been serving his sentence in a penal colony No. 6.
