Tatsiana Kaneuskaya is a proxy of presidential candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in Homieĺ.
In the evening of August 6, 2020, Tatsiana Kaneuskaya's house was searched, and in the morning security officers came to Kaneuskaya's house with a second search. The woman was arrested.
She was charged under Part 1 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code, "organization of riots."
On May 4, 2021, Judge Aliaksei Khlyshchankou of the Čyhunačny District Court of Homieĺ found the activist guilty under Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code (participation in mass riots) and under Article 292 of the Criminal Code (takeover of buildings). Kaneuskaya was sentenced to six years of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
Since November 2021, Tatsiana was twice placed in the punishment cell (SHIZO) for a total of 30 days.
In mid-January 2022, it was announced that Tatsiana had been transferred from penal colony No. 4 in Homieĺ to prison No. 4 in Mahilioŭ. She is serving her sentence in a high-security prison.
According to human rights defenders, Tatsiana is not allowed any visitors and is only allowed to receive one small parcel per year. She is to remain in prison until March 2024. After that, she is expected to be transferred back to Homieĺ penal colony. Additionally, Tatsiana has spinal problems.
