Stanislau Machalau is an activist based in from Homieĺ.
Machalau was detained on May 28, 2021. His apartment, where he lives with his parents, was searched by security forces. After 72 hours, he was transferred to a pre-trial detention center and charged under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (organization or active participation in group activities that grossly violate public order).
Prior to that, Stanislau Machalau was detained and imprisoned three times under Article 24.23 of the Administrative Code (participation in unauthorized mass events).
On January 3, the court of the Central District of Homieĺ sentenced Stanislau Machalau to 3 years in prison for organizing actions that grossly violate public order, or actively participating in them (Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code) and for committing violence or threat of violence against a police officer (Article 364 of the Criminal Code).
