Siarhei Botvich was detained in early January 2023 and placed in pre-trial detention center. He was charged with organization of riots under Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code.
Botvich was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in a medium-security penal colony. The trial began on May 16 and continued until August 25, 2023. The case was considered by Judge Uladzimir Pazniak.
On October 27, 2023, Botvich was added to the list of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons involved in extremist activities.
