Safiya Bahavets was detained in early August 2023. She is accused of participating in protests in 2020 (Article 342 of the Criminal Code).
According to Belarusian enforcement agencies, the girl was recognized in the footage of the DELFI film about Belarusian protests, and therefore she was detained.
Safiya was held in pre-trial detention center No. 1.
On September 11, 2023, Judge Tatsiana Pirozhnikava sentenced Safiya to two years and six month of restricted freedom under home confinement ("domashnyaya khimiya").
