Ryhor Vasilkou is from Brest. From November 2020 to March 2022 he lived in Ukraine. Upon his return to Belarus, a criminal case was opened against him for participating in a protest rally in Brest on September 13, 2020 (the so-called "round dance case") under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code.

Vasilkou was detained on October 19 at the railway station when he was returning from work. On December 23, 2022, he was sentenced to 12 months of imprisonment in a penal colony.
