Ruslan Prakharenka, a teacher of the Belarusian language, ran his social media in Belarusian, sometimes talking about political issues and reposting from the so-called "extremist" channels. He also wrote about why it is worth speaking Belarusian.
On May 20, 2024, he was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment.
He was charged under Part 1 of Article 356 (high treason), Part 1 of Article 130 (incitement to hatred), Part 1 of Article 361-4 (promoting extremist activities) and Part 1 of Article 406 of the Criminal Code (misprision). The trial was held in a closed session. The case was heard by Judge Vadzim Bobyrau.
