Pavel Pernikov is a Wikipedia editor who was sentenced to 24 months in prison for “discrediting Belarus” (Article 369-1 of the Criminal Code).

The criminal case was brought for his editing of an article on Wikipedia about the murder of the journalist Veranika Charkasava and Henadz Shutau, and an article on the website of a German human rights organization about the torture and murder of Belarusians during the protests.

The political prisoner served his sentence in full and was released from jail.
