Mikita Maliar is a third-year student of the Belarusian National Technical University. He was accused of desecrating the state symbols (Article 370 of the Criminal Code) for tearing off a red and green flag from a building.

On November 25, 2022, the Babrujsk District and City Court found Maliar guilty of desecrating the state flag, and sentenced him to 24 months of restricted freedom in an open-type penal facility. The case was heard by the judge Anton Dudal.

Maliar was released from custody in the courtroom until the verdict entered into force.

Later it became known that he was sent to open-type penal facility #6 to serve his sentence.
