Statement on the status of a political prisoner
Mikhail Niamtsou was accused of 'inciting other social enmity' under Part 1 of Art. 130 of the Criminal Code, and of insulting the president (Part 1, Art. 368).
The case was heard by the judge Iryna Maiko.
The trial lasted from October 6.
On 14 November 2022, the Minsk Regional Court completed the trial. Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the judicial panel for criminal cases of the Minsk Regional Court issued a guilty verdict. Based on Part 1 of Art. 130 and Part 1 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, Niamtsou was finally sentenced to three (3) years of imprisonment in a general regime colony, based on totality of the crimes.
