Mikalai Khila, a preacher of the Baptist Church Blagovestie, was taken into custody on April 24, 2024. He was initially held at the temporary detention center, and subsequently transferred to the pre-trial detention center.
On December 23, 2024 the hearing of Mikalai's case is scheduled in Minsk City Court under the following articles of the Criminal Code: Part 3 of Article 361 (calls for restrictive measures (sanctions), other actions aimed at harming the national security of the Republic of Belarus), Part 1 of Article 130 (incitement to racial, national, religious or other social discord or enmity). On December 30, 2024, the verdict was announced. Judge Alena Ananich found Mikalai guilty under these two articles and sentenced him to four years' imprisonment.
