Meryem Herasimenka

Meryem Herasimenka, a singer, was detained after she had performed a Ukrainian song in one of the Minsk bars. She was twice sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest, and then re-arrested as a defendant in a criminal case under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (‘Active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order’).

On January 20, 2023, the Centraĺny District Court of Minsk delivered a verdict: Judge Viktoryia Shabunia sentenced Herasimenka to three years of restricted freedom without referral to a penal facility (under home confinement).
