Maksim Zinevich was wounded in the leg by a rubber bullet during a protest on August 10 in Brest. On August 25, he was detained on suspicion of involvement in riots.

Zinevich was charged under Art. 293 of the Criminal Code, "mass riots".

On May 21, 2021, Judge Andrei Hrushko of the Lieninski District Court of Brest sentenced Zinevich to 4 years in a medium-security penal colony.
