Maksim Stasiuk was taken into custody on charges of ‘participation in group actions that grossly violate the public order’ and ‘attempting to participate or in hostilities on foreign soil’ (intention to join the defenders of Ukraine) under Part 1 of Article 342 and Part 1 of Article 361-3 of the Criminal Code respectively.
On November 9, 2022, in Minsk City Court at a closed session Natallia Buhuk considered Maksim's case under two articles: Part 1 of Article 342 (Organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order or active participation in them), and Part 1 of Article 361-3 (Participation on the territory of a foreign state in an armed formation or armed conflict, military actions, recruitment or preparation of persons for such participation).
Maksim was sentenced to two years and six months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
On February 24, 2023, the Ministry of Internal Affairs included Maxim in the "list of extremists".
