Maksim Safonau was detained on January 11, 2022, in a criminal case on group actions grossly violating public order (Article 342 of the Criminal Code).

He was charged and transferred to pre-trial detention center.

On 29 April 2022 judge of the Leninski District Court of Minsk Maryna Klimchuk found Maksim guilty and sentenced him to two and a half years of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
