Liudmila Hancharenka was convicted under Article 358-1 of the Criminal Code (agent activity). On December 19, 2023, the case was considered in closed session by Judge Yauhen Sharshniou.

On March 22, 2024, she was included in the "list of extremists" by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

She served her sentence in Women's Colony No. 4.

In the evening of June 28, 2024 there was sudden information about the release of five political prisoners from Belarusian colonies. The Ukrainian authorities obtained the release of their citizens in exchange for prisoners. The terms of the exchange are not known. The released political prisoners were delivered to Ukraine on June 28 - the mass media published their photo from the airport.
