Ksenia Syramalot is a student of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Belarusian State University, spokeswoman for the Belarusian Students' Association, volunteer of the Human Rights Center "Viasna". She was detained on November 12 as part of a criminal case under Art. 342 part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (organization or participation in group actions that gravely breach public order). Her apartment was searched. Ksenia was initially held in the KGB pre-trial prison.
On July 16, 2021, Syramalot was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
The political prisoner served her sentence in full and was released on November 30, 2022.
