Kiryl Zhohaleu was arrested on September 21, 2021.
Zhohaleu was charged under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (actions grossly violating public order) and placed in a pre-trial detention center.
The charges stem from his involvement in a protest held in Minsk on September 6, 2020.
On November 26, 2021, the Zavodski District Court of Minsk sentenced Zhohaleu to two and a half years in an open penitentiary. The convict was released in the courtroom to wait for an appeal hearing.
On December 27, 2021, Kiryl started serving his sentence in the Viciebsk prison No 9.
Kiryl was released on February 13, 2024. It is known that he is prohibited from leaving Belarus for two years.
