Katsiaryna Khulkhachieva was detained on 29 September 2021 for comments related to the death of Andrei Zeltser. She is accused according to Article130 ('Inciting other social enmity'), Article 368 ('Insulting the president of Belarus'), and Article 369 ('Insulting a public official') of the Criminal Code.
It is known that Katsiaryna Khulkhachieva studied at the Minsk State Linguistic University. She was expelled from the university in absentia in January 2022. She has a little son.
In early February 2023, the political prisoner was transferred from remand prison #8 Žodzina (Minsk region) to remand prison #1 in Minsk.
On February 9, 2023, the Minsk Regional Court sentenced Khulkhachieva to 24 months of imprisonment in a general security penal colony. Taking into account the pre-trial detention time, she was released in the courtroom.
