Katsiaryna Yakauleva is a citizen of the Russian Federation. She was arrested on September 29, 2022, after searches at the Belagro company, a major supplier of agricultural machinery and spare parts she worked for. Yakauleva was placed in remand prison #1 in Minsk on charges of ‘active participation in group actions grossly breaching public order’ (Article 342 of the Criminal Code).
On January 26, 2023, her trial began in the Maskoŭski District Court of Minsk. On January 30, 2023, Yakauleva was sentenced to 12 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
On July 12, 2023, the political prisoner was released having served her full sentence. She was deported to Russia immediately after her release. When she was taken out of the penal colony gates, she only had a few minutes to see her daughter and friend and arrange their further meeting.
