Yury Siankou is former head of the financial department at the Lieninski district administration of Minsk.
Siankou was detained on April 30, 2021. He was convicted five times in administrative cases, resulting in 50 days in jail. Then he was transferred to a pre-trial detention center as part of a criminal case.
Siankou was charged under two articles of the Criminal Code: Article 342 (participation in group actions that grossly violate public order) - for participating in protests on August 16 and 23, 2020, and Article 368 (insulting the president) - for reposting on Telegram. The man received three years in a general-security penal colony.
