Yury Basalai was convicted under Article 369 of the Criminal Code of ‘insulting an employee of internal affairs bodies’ and under Part 1 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code of ‘possession of a small amount of wild cannabis’ and sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment.

It is known, that Basalai was again accused of ‘insulting a government official’ under Article 369 of the Criminal Code. On August 22, 2022, Judge of the Lieninski District Court of Minsk Tatsiana Shotik found the political prisoner guilty and handed down a final sentence of 2.5 years of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony in accordance with the concurrent sentencing rules.
