Yauhen Papakul, a 28-year-old lawyer, was sentenced to 12 months of imprisonment in a penal colony.

Judge Dzmitryi Karsiuk announced the verdict on January 24, 2023, in the Centraĺny District Court of Minsk.

Papakul was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 342 of the Criminal Code for participating in three protest marches in August-October 2020. In court, he was charged with repeatedly going out on the roadway and disobeying the demands of the police to stop participating in peaceful meetings.

He was detained in August 2022.
