Yauhen Halich is an entrepreneur from Homieĺ, he was detained on March 3, 2022.
He was initially detained for 5 days, but then another 15 days were added on new charges, and later another 13 days. While serving his term, Yauhen was interrogated by the KGB almost every day.
It became known that Yauhen was never released after his administrative arrest. He is charged under Article 203-1 of the Criminal Code (illegal actions with respect to information about private life and personal data) and Article 369 of the Criminal Code (Insulting a government official). He was transferred to pre-trial detention center.
On August 10, 2022, Judge Viktar Kazachak of the Centraĺny District Court of Homieĺ found the political prisoner guilty and sentenced him to 24 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony. The judge also ruled to confiscate Halich's cell phone and imposed 5,500 Belarusian rubles in damages to the victims.
On October 7, 2022, the Homieĺ Regional Court considered Halich's appeal against the verdict and and upheld it.
